The fifth and sixth grades proffered the fruits of their musical labors in a winter concert Wednesday evening, January 27.

The program featured the 5th- and 6th-grade orchestras and bands, led by instrumental teacher Brian Mayer, and the 5th and 6th-grade choir, led by choir director Jo Frannye Reichert.

Selections ranged from three-note songs to pizzicato pieces, to full-bowed and blown polyphony.

The choir sang several complicated rounds, the famous Bill Withers’ “Lean on Me”, and a jittery, ever-faster version of the Coffee Round, complete with cups.

To accommodate the many ensembles, all the performers did some time being part of the audience, displaying good listening skills and respect for their peers.
