Community Votes on Visioning Actions

On Wednesday and Thursday more than 60 community members participated in the third and final public phase of Yellow Springs/Miami Township Visioning process, “Shape Our Future.”

At the open house, each participant voted for five actions, out of 78 total, they believe should have the highest priority.

As of Thursday afternoon, the following actions had garnered the most votes:

  • Developing an economic development plan
  • Creating a health and fitness center in buildings on the Antioch College campus
  • Establishing a trust fund for affordable housing construction

Participants also responded to a proposed list of community aspirations and land stewardship values.

The open house will continue on Friday, May 21, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Rooms A and B at the Bryan Center. All community members are invited to attend.

“It’s our community and we’re all a part of it,” said visioning steering committee member and Township Trustee Mark Crockett. “By coming out or not coming out you influence the direction the community goes.”

ACP Visioning+Planning of Columbus, which was hired by Council and the Township Trustees to guide the process, will finalize the vision, which will be then be presented to the Village Council and Township Trustees in early June.
