Acoustic Ecology Series continues
- Published: March 1, 2011
The next installment in the monthly Acoustic Ecology Series at Glen Helen takes place tonight in Glen Helen Auditorium.
Simply, acoustic ecology is the study of how sound affects living beings. The series at Glen Helen began after hiker Kevin Wolfe began recording soundscapes in the Glen and offering them for sale on iTunes, with proceeds benefitting the Glen. Wolfe partnered with the Glen to host the series. The first event included sounds from the Glen, from a playground, from a steam generator, and more.
The following is one of Kevin Wolfe’s recordings, and an example of what listeners will be treated to throughout the series:

The event begins at 7 p.m. and ends at around 9 p.m. Listeners will enjoy dimmed lights and a room full of sound, as well as beverages donated by the Emporium, and cheese provided by Wolfe himself.
