Michael Grinnell

After growing up in Springfield and graduating from Greenon High School in 1969, Mike went on to work at the FBI in Washington, D.C. After his years there, he joined the Air Force, serving in the U.S., Guam and England before retiring as a decorated master sergeant in 1992 from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Mike’s Air Force recognitions include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Organizational Excellence Award with Two Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with One Silver Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal with One Bronze Service Star, Air Force Overseas Short Tour and Long Tour Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award with Four Oak Leaf Clusters, NCO Professional Military Education Grad Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon and Support of Operation in Desert Shield/Storm/Calm. After retirement, Mike worked for General Dynamics Information Technology until June of 2011.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Marion (Buddy) Grinnell. He is survived by his parents, Patricia and Jack Bittner of Yellow Springs, daughter Christina Grinnell, grandchildren Joel and Kimberly, son John, sisters Pam (Grinnell) Simington and Betsy (Bittner) Gannon, a nephew, nieces and dear friends Tyler and Cindy Blackburn.
