Downtown businesses to be affected by brief electric outage on Saturday

Downtown businesses in Yellow Springs will be affected by five-minute electric outages tomorrow, Jan. 16, when Village crews switch out electric meters along Xenia Avenue. All businesses and residences along Xenia Avenue from Corry to Limestone on the west side (excluding BP and Tom’s) will experience the outage, along with all businesses from Corry to Glen on the east side.

According to Village Manager Patti Bates, it would be best for computers and other electronic equipment to be shut down Friday night at the close of business to minimize the possibility of damage. Crews will arrive at around 6 a.m. to start on the businesses with the earliest opening, and all should be completed by 9 a.m.
