Join Senior Center in taking “10 Million Steps”
- Published: September 18, 2016
The Senior Center will sponsor a “10 Million Steps to Prevent Falls” walk on Thursday, Sept. 22, and the whole community is invited to participate. The course of the walk will begin behind the fire station on the bike path, and will continue toward Xenia to the half-mile point, and will then return to the starting point.
The walk is intended to raise awareness about fall prevention, and is the kick-off event for a day of fall prevention activities sponsored by the Greene County Council on Aging. According to the agency’s website, the best way to reduce the risk of a fall is to engage in 15 to 30 minutes of physical activity every day, which strengthens muscles and improves balance and stamina.
Participants can come and complete the walk any time between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., and are asked to write their names at the table at the starting point of the walk. All are welcome. For more information, call 767-5751, extension 105.
