Volunteers needed for Apple Bee
- Published: September 23, 2016
This year’s fall Street Fair is coming up soon on Saturday, Oct. 8, and with it comes the First Presbyterian Church’s Apple Fest. This annual festival takes place outside the church during Street Fair, and offers homemade apple crisp made from Peifer’s Orchards apples, vanilla and cinnamon ice cream from Young’s Jersey Dairy and Peifer’s apple cider. The festival will be kicked off with an Apple Bee the day before Street Fair.
Volunteers are needed at the Apple Bee to help cut apples, make the topping for the dessert and prepare the apple crisps for baking. All are invited to take part in this community volunteer effort, which was described in a press release from the church this week as being “a bit like an old-fashioned quilting bee.”
The Apple Bee will be held on Friday, Oct. 7, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Work will conclude with a potluck lunch, with the church also supplying pizza and salad. Those interested in participating in the Apple Bee are asked to RSVP to 767-7751, or to stop by the church Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–noon, to sign up.
