Blackwell-Truitt dance concert returns

Bej Na Productions will present the Valerie Blackwell-Truitt Dance and Performing Arts Concert Fundraiser on Friday and Saturday, May 3 and 4, at the Foundry Theater at Antioch College. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. on both evenings. Admission is $12 for adults, students and seniors and $10 for children ages 8 and under. Antioch College students will be admitted for free.
The concert will feature performances pieces that seek to convey a range of emotions, from lightheartedness to anguish and loss. Performances will include “Connected,” a group piece choreographed by local artists Victoria Walters and Keri Speck, with music by Alice Merton, featuring 14 performers; “I Was Here,” from dancer and singer Ashley Perry, addressing the legacy she chooses to leave behind; drumming presentations by Baoku Moses and Kyle M. Truitt, son of the late Buck A. Truitt; poetry and spoken word by John Booth and Alexandra Scott; and more.
Proceeds from the event will fund scholarships and sporting equipment in honor of the late Anna Clara Gee Blackwell and the late Buck Allen Truitt, who both died in 2018. The concert is presented in partnership with Antioch College and the YS Arts Council.
