“Freedom Flight,” a play for young audiences detailing the historical tale of Addison White, who escaped from enslavement in Kentucky and stood against pursuing federal marshals in Mechanicsburg, Ohio, will be performed Friday, Jan. 13, at the Foundry Theater.

During the first regular Village Council meeting of the year, held in person on Tuesday, Jan. 3, Council members reviewed several prospects for bringing additional monies into the Village’s general fund, thereby softening the blow of the year’s projected $2.9 million budget deficit.

The Yellow Springs High School boys varsity basketball team netted wins at its two most recent games on Friday, Dec. 30, and Tuesday, Jan. 3, bringing the team’s season record to 3–7.

Impromptu music performances, live theater, new murals, book publications, films and so, so much more — Yellow Springs was a fountain of art in 2022.

Perhaps the most significant piece of news to come out of Miami Township in 2022 was the passage of a levy that will generate about $670,000 per year for Miami Township Fire-Rescue and will be used to pay MTFR personnel.

It was a productive year for the Village Council of Yellow Springs. From new appointments to the group to the bevy of legislation passed throughout the year, Council had a busy 2022.
