Glen Helen trails to close

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Seasonal trail closures are coming soon to Glen Helen. As spring approaches, the Glen is at its most fragile; thawing ground melts at the surface, but remains frozen underneath, causing trails to turn to mud and widen as hikers cross them. To protect the plants and animals of the preserve, and to keep trails from widening, Glen staff will close trails as necessary. Glen Helen land stewardship staff will determine when it’s safe to reopen trails. To find out the status of the trails, visit http://www.glenhelen.org or the Glen’s Facebook page. While trails are closed, Glen Helen recommends hiking the paved Little Miami Scenic Trail or Cedar Bog State Nature Preserve, which has a boardwalk through its unique wetland habitat.
