Raptor Center hosts open house

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The Glen Helen Raptor Center hosted an open house event last Sunday afternoon. With the help of this year’s Naturalist Interns, the center showcased an assortment of birds that are currently being rehabilitated for release into the wild.

The Raptor Center began in 1970 as part of Antioch College’s Glen Helen Outdoor Education Center. The primary function of the center, as stated on the Glen Helen website, is to “rehabilitate injured birds of prey while educating the public about raptors, other wildlife, and conservation issues.” The center admits up to 200 birds a year, and is able to fully rehabilitate and release about half back into the wild.

If you’d like to support the Raptor Center and its rehabilitation efforts, you can inquire about donations at 937-767-7648. The birds are also open for public viewing, and anyone is welcome to visit the center just off State Route 343.
