New Village emergency contact system
- Published: March 8, 2013
The Village will soon move to a new system for contacting villagers during emergencies, Manager Laura Curliss said at the March 4 Council meeting. The new systerm, Hyper-Reach, will replace the Code Red system that has been used the past several years.
Hyper-Reach is preferable to Code Red because it can send both emergency messages and non-emergency alerts, such as the need to reduce use of water or electric due to line breaks or downed lines, Curliss said.
The new system, like Code Red, delivers its messages via telephone, and those who have landlines do not have to do anything to sign on, as their phones will automatically be entered into the system. However, those who want cell phones registered need to sign up at http://www.hyper-reach.com/ohgreenesignup.html .
