Netting some new talent

On Sunday, March 31, six Yellow Springs boys and girls participated in a “Play Day” tennis event for first graders on the Antioch courts. Ten coaches led the youngsters through a series of drills designed to help them develop rudimentary tennis skills. The children used junior-size racquets and practiced hitting colorful, oversized balls over specially designed youth-size tennis nets. Barb Collins-Stratton organized the event and provided the boys and girls with nutritious drinks and snacks, and each participant received a certificate of participation. The Yellow Springs Community Tennis Association and Antioch College sponsored the event.
