‘Sew’ exciting: new youth sewing school to open
- Published: December 2, 2014
The Mad Hatter Sewing Studio, a new sewing school for kids and teens, will soon open its doors to the village. The studio, which is located in Suite 311 of the Union Schoolhouse, plans to offer weekly group classes for ages 8–18, teaching hand and machine sewing methods. According to owner and instructor Mary Noren, “Yellow Springs is an art-friendly community; that’s why it’s the perfect setting for … [a] fiber arts studio exclusively for kids and teens.”
The public is invited to drop by the studio during an open house on Saturday, Dec. 13, noon–3 p.m. Those interested can meet and talk with Noren, look around the studio and see sample projects and enjoy snacks. A drawing will be held for visitors to win free classes.
Along with its weekly classes, the studio plans to hold workshops and summer camps, foster Girl Scout projects and provide home-schooler lessons. For more information, contact Noren at 239-478-3603 or madhattersewing@gmail.com, or visit http://www.madhattersewing.com.
