CMYS to present fundraiser screening
- Published: January 20, 2015
Chamber Music Yellow Springs, or CMYS, will hold a social fundraising event in Yellow Springs on Sunday, Jan. 25, 4 p.m., at the Little Art Theatre. The event will feature a screening of the film “Music of the Heart,” a 1999 film starring Meryl Streep which tells the true story of a New York City music teacher who struggles for funds to support music education in schools.
The film was nominated for numerous awards, including three for Streep’s performance as Roberta Guaspari. The real Guaspari’s son, Nick Tzavaras, is cellist with the Shanghai String Quartet, who appeared on the CMYS schedule in November this year.
Following the film, there will be a wine and food reception at the Winds Cafe. Admission is $75 per person ($30 tax deductible) and includes the film, food, wine, coffee and tea. Reservations must be received by January 22 (see http://www.cmys.org or call 937-374-8800).
