Longtime Antioch School teacher Chris Powell, who is retiring at the end of this school year, will be honored this Saturday, May 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the school.
Powell has for the past 28 years taught the school’s Older Group, which is made up of fourth, fifth and sixth graders. She has been a model and advocate for the school’s child-centered, experiential educational philosophy. The Antioch School is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, alternative schools in the country, having been established in 1920.
Light refreshments will be provided on Saturday, and a program will begin at 2:45. Guests are invited to bring a memory to share at the program, if they choose to do so.
