Foul weather into foul balls — rain no damper for Perry League
- Published: August 1, 2016
On Friday, July 29, half a dozen kids (and as many adults) braved the rain and headed out to Gaunt Park for the penultimate night of this year’s Perry League T-ball. Some wearing rain boots, some barefoot, the kids squelched around the field for an hour-and-a-half, batting, running and fielding as usual — when they weren’t playing in the puddles. By the end of the evening, every kid was knee-deep in mud. Click below to watch a brief video of the evening’s fun. Look for a write-up about the soggy evening from Coach Jimmy Chesire on the sports page of the Aug. 4 issue of the News.
The final night of Perry League this season will be Friday, Aug. 5, at Gaunt Park, 6:30–8 p.m., capped by a hot dog roast and potluck dinner. Trophies will be awarded to all kids who show up to play that night. All kids ages 2–9 are welcome to play.

We were sad that it rained so hard on Friday. We had 2 year old twins in town anxious to play (and their mom SO wanting to take them!) but didn’t think a rain soaked field would be the best introduction to the sport. There’s always next season….
