Tim and Julia Honchel were honored as the newest homeowners of local affordable housing land trust Home, Inc. at its annual members meeting last Sunday. The couple moved to town in 2012 when Julia, now 24, was an Antioch College student. More recently, the couple was dismayed to not find an affordable home to buy.

“It was pretty hard to realize we might not be able to live here,” Tim Honchel, 27, said at the meeting.

In June the couple closed on a small home on West Center College Street for $110,000. It was Home, Inc.’s 27th closing, Home, Inc. Executive Director Emily Seibel said at the meeting.

Julia Honchel holds an Americorp Vista position at Community Solutions and Tim Honchel is a self-employed business consultant for nonprofits.
