2021 Candidates Night Pt. 1 — Yellow Springs Board of Education and Miami Township Trustees
- Published: October 19, 2021
On Tuesday, Oct. 19, from 7–9 p.m., the first of two Candidates Nights will be held in the Mills Lawn gymnasium. The 2021 election candidates participating in the first event are those running for Yellow Springs Board of Education and Miami Township trustee seats. Candidates are contesting for three school board seats and two trustee seats.
Sponsored by the James A. McKee Association and facilitated by longtime villager Jalyn Roe, this year’s first Candidates Night will take a hybrid format — interested parties may attend in person or virtually. To help facilitate community access, the Village of Yellow Springs will livestream the event on its Facebook and YouTube pages, as well as on Yellow Springs Community Access Channel 5 and on Zoom.
Here’s how Candidates Night will work:
Each candidate will be given five minutes to make a statement. During this time, in-person audience members may write questions on a note card, which will be collected by the facilitator. The facilitator reserves the right to combine like questions. Once the candidates have finished with their opening statements, the facilitator will begin asking the written questions. Candidates will be given one minute to respond.
The second Candidates Night will be held Wednesday, Oct. 20, also from 7–9 p.m. and in the Mills Lawn gymnasium. That event will spotlight candidates vying for three available Village Council seats and Mayor Pam Conine, who is running unopposed.
