David R. Muffler

Former Yellow Springs resident David R. Muffler died July 24, 2013, in Knoxville, Tenn. He was 80 years old. Mr. Muffler was cremated at the time, and presently his family will hold a memorial and burial of the cremains at Spring Valley Cemetery in Spring Valley, Ohio, at 10 a.m. on Oct. 23.
Mr. Muffler always had a passion for science, and graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor of science degree in geology. He worked until his retirement as a chemist at Vernay Laboratories and always had a love for Yellow Springs, even after leaving.
Mr. Muffler was preceded in death by his wife, Renate, who worked at Antioch College, and who died May 9, 2013 — just over two months before her husband. Mr. Muffler is survived by daughter, Deborah Edwards; son, Steven Muffler (Mary); five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
