  • Japanese culture in bloom in Yellow Springs

    An authentic Japanese tea house, built by Japanese Professor Harold Wright and his students in the 1970s, once graced the Antioch campus. Photos of the tea house and grounds will be on display May 2–8 at the Foundry Theatre and Wright will give a talk about the project on May 4 as part of Ohayo Ohio, a Japanese symposium and cultural event.     Villagers are invited to come out for “Drum, Dance and Draw: A Celebration of Black Culture” on Saturday, April 16, 2–5 p.m. in the Mills Lawn Gym. The event will feature West African drumming, dance instruction and cartooning for grades K–6.

    Ratih Rahmadanti of Indonesia is keen on learning about civic engagement in a municipal government. Nadia Jalawi of Malaysia is interested in how a municipality can include renewables in its energy portfolio, and hopes to take what she learns back to her country.
