Hotaling shows birds at the brewery

“Birding is Hard,” an exhibit of large paintings of regional birds by local artist Travis Tarbox Hotaling, will be on view at the Yellow Springs Brewery from Nov. 25 through Dec. 20. A reception for Hotaling will take place Saturday, Nov. 28, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the brewery.
The idea for the focus on birds came up by chance, Hotaling said in a recent interview. His large up-close painting of a warbler, on exhibit at last summer’s Fence Gallery around the Mills Park Hotel site on Xenia Avenue, captured the eye of many passersby, some of whom suggested that he paint more birds. So he did, and the current show includes eight or nine large close-up renderings of avian life.
