Alicia Scott-Bey

On Sept. 1, 2020, an incredible spirit left the physical world, encircled in the love of her two amazing daughters, her sister and a bevy of extended family and community.

Alicia Scott-Bey was an incredibly brilliant soul, full of the unexpected — a sweet, fiery rabble-rouser who loved talking politics, cowboy movies and K-pop! She raised two brilliant Black women with sheer willpower, ingenuity and self-sacrifice, and the branches of her tree are strong.

She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, our Grammy, Alice Grevious Bell, and father David Bell, leaving her sister, Peggy, and two brothers, Ricky and Howard, to cherish her memory.

As an ancestor, she watches over her children, Khara and Dana (Tony); her grandchildren,  Laura Latey (Vonric), Roemello, Anthony II, Cedric and Richard; eight great-grandchildren; and special friends.

She was a marvel!

Donations in Alicia’s honor can be made to her memorial tea garden, which will be  located at Heartbeat Gardens,  at bit.ly/2ZWJC9v; when donating, write “tea garden” under “add special instructions.” Donations may also be made to Khara’s health and wellness fund  at bit.ly/3ck29l5.
