Charles “Chuck” Garrety, 71, of Yellow Springs, Ohio, passed away peacefully Aug. 17, 2023, at Springfield Regional Medical Center, after his 12-year battle with kidney disease.

Charles Kabenji, age 77, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully Thursday, Aug. 10, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family.

In a recent press release from the Ohio Department of Health, or ODH, Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff, the department’s director, offered assurances that the COVID-19 vaccine will continue to be readily available to Ohioans, including the uninsured, as the vaccine supply moves to a more traditional healthcare distribution model in the next month.

The “Black Women of Yellow Springs” tour will be presented Saturday, Aug. 12, and “Black Food Traditions of Yellow Springs” will take place Saturday, Aug. 26.
