  • Fundraiser to feature Muslim comic

    A comedian who recently made his network TV debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert after performing as the opening act on Dave Chappelle’s 2015 national tour, has been snagged to perform in Yellow Springs for the Antioch School’s annual Auction Gala event.

    The Antioch School’s Older Group was recently immersed in storytelling and theater, thanks to special guest Christopher Westhoff, of the Mad River Theater Works performing arts company, who spent a portion of each day last week at the school. Westhoff helped students develop their own play about the life and influence of retired Older Group teacher Bill Mullins, which they performed last Friday.     A recent theatrical storytelling residency at the Antioch School became an opportunity to learn and share a story from their own community history via the medium of live theater.

  • Wheel good time

    More than 30 riders took off under blue skies and a hot sun last Sunday for the Antioch School’s annual “Anything on Wheels” fundraiser. Riders — including Antioch school student Lucy Dennis (on unicyle), Older Group teacher Sally Dennis and students Elijah Moon and Ayla Current — pedaled down the Little Miami Scenic Trail for all or part of a 15-mile round-trip route to the northern edge of Xenia.     The Antioch School’s annual bike ride and fundraiser, “Anything on Wheels,” is happening this Sunday, Sept. 25, noon to 3 p.m. Riders of unicycles, bikes, trikes and more are welcome!

    A celebration in honor of retiring Antioch School teacher Chris Powell will take place Saturday, May 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the school on Corry Street.
