“Share the Joy” provides gifts for local families in need
- Published: November 28, 2011
The Yellow Springs Library has launched its annual “Share the Joy” holiday project, in which villagers anonymously donate gifts to local families in need.
Gifts are provided for local families only. An adult from the family makes a request for needed items, which may be toys for children or clothing, holiday food items or other needs for children and adults. Volunteers then code the requests and put a tag on the library Christmas tree for each request; holiday shoppers then choose a tag(s) and make the purchase, returning the wrapped gifts with tags attached to the library. The anonymously purchased gifts are then delivered to the families in need.
Adults who want to make gift requests may do so through Saturday, Dec. 10. Shoppers who purchase gifts should return them to the library no later than 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16.
All donors and recipients will remain anonymous.
