By Sunday, we’ve gone through three performances of Maria Irene Fornes’ Fefu and Her Friends. A side effect of the play is I suddenly have a bounty of freshly husked corn.
So today I’m making relish.
One of my favorite memories from last summer was the corn relish that Brian Ramsey prepared for the concessions of YSKP performances. Today I have promised myself to search out a reasonable proximity to Brian’s golden dish. My goal is to prepare a jar or two.
Since the corn is ready—a cherry yellow—my first task is to get out the stick pot and start a rolling boil of water.
