• Derr tapped as interim college head

  The Antioch College Board Pro Tempore announced on Wednesday, Dec. 9, the appointment of Matthew Derr as the college’s interim president. Derr was the chief transition officer who helped lead the two-year effort to win the college’s independence from Antioch University this past summer.

  “The symposium year is intended to re-ignite intellectual life on campus,” said Antioch College Chief Transition Officer Matthew Derr this week. College leaders seek to engage both the Yellow Springs community and Antioch College alumni with the symposium series, according to Derr, who said the alumni will have videos of the event made available.

  “I’ve waited a long time to say this,” Matthew Derr, chief transition officer for the Antioch College Continuation Corporation, said to hundreds of villagers on Friday afternoon. “Welcome to Antioch College.” The event was the Sept. 4 signing ceremony that transformed Antioch College from a part of Antioch University to an independent liberal arts institution, and brought the college, which has been closed for a year, back to life.
