As the weather grows colder and Yellow Springs moves through fall and toward winter, one hope for future spring and summer is already planted and waiting in the Thistle Creek development, on the edge of the Glass Farm Wetland and Conservation Area.

The new program, “Sources of Strength,” is sponsored by the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation and PreventionFirst and is designed to reduce the risk of suicide, bullying and substance abuse.

On Sunday, Nov. 19, local multimedia artists Kathi Seidl and Beth Holyoke will unveil their newest installation: a kaleidoscopic fairy ring of felted and crocheted mushrooms clustered up and around the central pillar in the atrium of the Vernet Ecological Center.

Paula Willmot Kraus, much loved and loving wife, wonderful mother, and awesomely hip and nurturing grandmother, who was born April 5, 1957, passed away Nov. 4, 2023.

As noted in Monday’s regular Village Council meeting, the budgeted expenses for next year total $17,852,817 — an amount that includes expenses from the general, special revenue, capital project and enterprise funds.

We are teetering on the brink of fall. It is absolutely my favorite season in Ohio. Last year I discovered delicata squash, which changed my life. Goodness, they are delicious. This year, however, we haven’t planted any: they are exploding everywhere, and I reckon we have about 20, ranging from almost a foot long to about three inches.
