Flower lovers delight: The Yellow Springs sunflower field just north of the village, at 4627 U.S. 68, is in full bloom.

All throughout a perfect early fall day, on Saturday, Sept. 16, over 50 musicians, bands, disc jockeys, singers, songwriters and instrumentalists of nearly every musical genre under the sun performed at the annual villagewide Porchfest.

At the most recent Village Council meeting, Monday, Oct. 2, Council members voted to remove Brian Housh from his position as Council president.

Just 22 miles apart, Yellow Springs and the Renaissance Festival’s 30-acre fairground in Harveysburg are loci of artistry and an unending cast of characters beyond imagination.

In partnership with Greene County Public Health, or GCPH, Yellow Springs Pharmacy is now offering free doses of naloxone.

On Friday, Sept. 22, the News caught local artist and meter reader Travis Hotaling working on an unusual canvas: the Village recently tasked the painter with beautifying some of the downtown fire hydrants.

“The Village is currently in ‘good shape’ in how it distributes power to its residents and businesses, but if Yellow Springs is to continue growing, the grid will need to be improved.”

The future business sited for that land, dubbed the Lumber Co. Market & Eatery, owned by Massies Creek Ventures, LLC, aims to have approximately 10 vendors selling prepared foods and goods in a newly renovated facility where a 1940s-era lumber yard once stood.

At their Tuesday, Sept. 5, regular meeting, Village Council reviewed a list of ongoing projects and discussed which of those projects should be paused temporarily or stopped altogether — as well as which may continue and which can be initiated.
