Earlier this week, Village crews did a little sharing of their own and carried out the tradition of delivering flour and sugar to Yellow Springs widows and widowers.

At the most recent Village Council meeting on Monday, Nov. 20, members of the Dayton-Walnut Streets Neighborhood Action Group — knowingly and facetiously abbreviated to NAG — called for greater oversight from the Village of the downtown noise.

On Thursday, Nov. 16, a small team of local residents and members of the Village Environmental Commission went to the northern reaches of the 17-acre Ellis Park to install a 4,500-square-foot prairie.

As noted in Monday’s regular Village Council meeting, the budgeted expenses for next year total $17,852,817 — an amount that includes expenses from the general, special revenue, capital project and enterprise funds.

On Friday, Oct. 27, state and county leaders gathered at the Greene County Adult Detention Center in Xenia to break ground on a $76 million facility that will house a new county jail as well as county law enforcement administration offices.

At the Monday, Oct. 16, Village Council meeting, the group held a first reading of an ordinance that would revise several municipal income tax provisions — revisions that the Village is required to adopt per Ohio House Bill 33.

The genealogy of Black Civil War veterans of Yellow Springs will be the focus of a community workshop presented by Antioch College and hosted by the Coretta Scott King Center for Cultural and Intellectual Freedom on two consecutive Saturdays in December.
