• Brian Mayer returns bearing music

  Yellow Springs raised Brian Mayer to love music. He began playing the trumpet at Mills Lawn, and by junior high he knew that music would be his career. He left the village to pursue that goal, and now plans to give back to the community that helped him find his gift.

  Grant Scott, a 2002 graduate of Yellow Springs High School, finished in 65th place at the Boston Marathon on April 19 with a time of 2 hours, 29 minutes, 5 seconds.

  Penn State University sophomore Sam Borchers doubled up and won two races last weekend, April 17–18, at an invitational Track & Field meet at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa.

  David Woolley, Douglas Mumaw, and Rob Williams are guests of our humble shire for seven weeks while they perform at the Ohio Renaissance Festival, which began Labor Day weekend and extends through Oct. 19. The festival is located in Harveysburg, Ohio, and runs Saturdays and Sundays, 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., rain or shine.
