At their July 21 meeting, Village Council members unanimously passed a resolution identifying conditions to be met for the Friends Care Community’s planned development for senior apartments.
At its July 7 meeting Yellow Springs Village Council officially hired its interim Village manager and also took a first step toward hiring a consultant to help search for a new Village manager.
As interim Village manager, John Weithofer has observed a few things since he first came to the village three weeks ago. Yellow Springs is an ambitious village of 3,700 that provides services and tackles projects generally found in cities of 15,000 or more, he said.
Village Council members agreed at the end of their meeting Monday, June 2, to appoint John Weithofer as manager consultant with the intent of hiring him as interim Village manager before Village Manager Eric Swansen resigns his position.
The Village of Yellow Springs ended its 2007 fiscal year with a general fund surplus of about $1.5 million, its largest surplus in recent years, according to Village Manager Eric Swansen at Council’s March 31 meeting.
At their March 17 meeting, members of the Yellow Springs Village Council learned that, due to a past communication error, the Village greenbelt fund should have about $100,000 more than the $87,000 it currently contains.

Village Council is seeking feedback from villagers on an analysis of the proposed annexation of the Fogg farm property, according to Village Manager Eric Swansen at Council’s meeting on Jan. 2. Village staff members will use the feedback to help guide discussion at a special Jan. 29 Council meeting on the Fogg farm annexation proposal.
At their meeting Jan. 2, members of the Yellow Springs Village Council appointed Kathryn Van der Heiden to Council’s vacant seat. The unanimous decision followed an executive session of an hour and a half.
