  • Seadogs set meeting to elect ’09 board members

    The Yellow Springs Aquatic Club, the Seadogs, will meet on Wednesday, March 25, at 7 p.m., at the Yellow Springs Community Library meeting room to discuss the upcoming season. On the agenda will be nominating and voting for board members, and filling subcommittees to run the various functions of the season.

  • YS Bulldogs derailed by Trojans

    The Bulldogs went into the second round of Division IV sectional tournament play as the underdog against the Southeastern Trojans on Friday, March 6, and put up a fight worthy of their toothy mascot. But the Trojans’ insurmountable height won them a 61–58 victory ticket to the sectional championship game against Fort Loramie this week at the University of Dayton.

    On Tuesday, March 3, the YSHS boys basketball team upset Bethel, the number-three seed in the Division IV sectional tournament, in a 55–50 victory. The Bulldogs play next on Friday, March 6, against Southeastern, the number-two seed, at Vandalia Butler High School, 8 p.m.

    True to their status as favorites in their respective district Division II races on Saturday, Feb. 21, freshmen Elizabeth Malone and Erika Chick did not let down their fans. The two lone swimmers for Yellow Springs High School managed three first-place finishes and one third-place finish to come in 11th out of 38 schools in the southwest district.

    When Erika Chick and Elizabeth Malone swim, they swim to win, and win big. The pair of YSHS freshmen set meet records in the 200 and 500 freestyle and 100 butterfly events at the sectional swim meet held at Trotwood Madison High School on Saturday, Feb. 14.

  • Bulldog Sports Round-up

    The YSHS girls basketball team won one and lost one Metro Buckeye Conference game last week as they rounded the bend toward the end of season tournament. The team will honor its seniors Ashanta Robinson, Jessica Keller, Kristen Foster and Melodie Wright with a pep band at their last season game at home at 3 p.m. on Valentine’s Day, Saturday, Feb. 14.

    The Yellow Springs girls swim team pulled out another strong meet at the Shawnee Invitational on Friday, Jan. 24. With just five swimmers, the Lady Bulldogs placed fourth overall with 58 points out of 17 teams.

  • Bulldog Sports Round-up

    Yellow Springs Lady Bulldogs basketball team turned around a losing streak and won the last three of their last five games. The Lady Dogs lost to Dayton Christian, 68–58, on Jan. 12.
