Mary Barbara Berthiaume, née Kraus, was born in Baltimore on Sept. 4, 1935, the first child of second-generation German immigrants.

Teresa Anne Staigers, of Fountain Hills, Arizona, passed away June 7, 2025, from a stroke, at the age of 63.

To honor Reichert’s legacy, the Yellow Springs Film Festival and PNC Bank in 2024 created the Julia Reichert Award, a $3,000 short film prize to be given to an emerging female documentarian.

To cheers and a blaring horn from her support team and boat crew, local resident Amy Wamsley stepped onto the shore near Calais, France Friday, June 13, having successfully swum the 21-mile stretch of the English Channel in 16 hours and 56 minutes.
