  • Library to provide space for NaNoWriMo

    Beginning next Tuesday, Nov. 1, the local library will provide quiet space on Tuesday nights, Nov. 1–29, for National Novel Writing Month participants.

  • Preserve family histories in workshop

    "Did they clear and settle land? Were any of them gold rushers? Did they fight in the Civil War, or nurse its wounded? Was one a sea captain? A coal miner? Or the mother of many? What were their daily lives like?"

    Local author Ralph Keyes, who is just wrapping up leading a community memoir workshop entitled “Telling Your Story,” will begin leading a new workshop, “Telling Your Ancestors’ Stories,” on Oct. 20.

  • Memoir writing workshop to be offered

    A free memoir writing workshop will be offered during the month of September.

  • Antioch Writers Workshop to offer free readings

    Announcing a new monthly poetry column, "First Lines," curated by Audrey Hackett.

    The annual Antioch Writers Workshop returns July 9–14, when more than 100 writers will visit the village and partake in writing workshops and events at Antioch University Midwest. As part of the week of events, free readings will be offered to the general public each evening.

    A special issue of the literary journal “Obsidian” celebrating the 2014 Antioch College symposium “Call & Response” will be launched this Saturday, May 7, 4:30–6:30 p.m., at the John Bryan Community Center.

  • McGruder to discuss new book on race, real estate

    Dr. Kevin McGruder, assistant professor of history at Antioch College, will read from his new book, Race and Real Estate: Conflict and Cooperation in Harlem, 1890-1920, on Tuesday, Aug. 4 at 7 p.m. at McGregor 113 on the Antioch campus.

  • Nikki Giovanni to speak at Antioch Writers Workshop

    Poet Nikki Giovanni will give the keynote address of the Antioch Writers Workshop this Saturday, July 11, at Antioch University Midwest.

  • Luisa Owens’ poems bear witness, honor dead

    Luisa Owens’ poems describe the terror and inhumanity of daily life in the concentration camp in Yugoslavia, where Owen lived with her family shortly before the end of World War II, from the ages of 9 to 13.

    Villager Luisa Owen will read original poems in German on Friday, June 5, at the Epic Book Shop.

  • Writer Kent Nelson to read

    Writer Kent Nelson will read from his work this Tuesday, April 21 at 7 p.m. at the Glen Helen Building.
