John Magee
There will be a celebration of the life of John Magee on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2:30 p.m. at the Friends Care Extended Care dining room. The public is invited to attend and share memories about John. Hannah Goldberg
Hannah Goldberg died on Sept. 24, at Friends Care Community with her beloved daughter, Lisa, and close friends by her side. She was 77. Hannah was born on Jan. 28, 1933, the daughter of Charles and Minnie Friedman. Her parents, both immigrants, met while taking classes in English at night school.

Sonja Reed memorial
A graveside service for Sonja Reed will be held on Saturday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Yellow Springs. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45420.

John Magee
John L. Magee died of a brief illness Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Friends Care Center. He was 90. He was given comfort in his final days by Heartland Hospice as well as his dedicated caregivers at Friends Care.

Jean Huston memorial
A memorial service for Jean Huston will be held Saturday, Nov. 13, 2 p.m., at the Glen Helen Building. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Yellow Springs Community Foundation or the Glen Helen Association.

Ginnie Philips
Gwynelle “Ginnie” Philips died Aug. 30 at her daughter’s home in Savannah, Ga., after a brief illness. Ginnie was born and raised in Savannah. She was the widow of Charles Edward “Pete” Philips. Ginnie was a longtime employee of the Yellow Springs school system, where she served as an assistant librarian.

Sonja Reed
Sonja Reed died Wednesday, Sept. 8, at her home in Yellow Springs. She was 83. Born Sonja Köhler on June 19, 1927, in Thalheim, Germany, she spent her youth traveling around Europe as part of a family circus act. During this time, she also began performing with elephants, a fondness she would hold the rest of her life.

Thomas Owen
Thomas Harvey Owen, the son of former Antioch College professor of physics Gwilym Emyr Owen and his wife, Edith, died September 9 at his home in Metairie, La. He was 85 years old. Tom attended the “old” Antioch School on Mills Lawn and graduated from Bryan High School in 1943.

Jean Huston
Jean Adams Huston died peacefully on Monday, Sept. 6, at Friends Care Community. She was 91. Jean was born March 31, 1919, in Stratford, Connecticut, to William and Sylvia Nothnagle.

Joseph Brown
Joseph Charles Francis Brown, of Yellow Springs, formerly of Davison, Mich., died Sunday, Sept. 5, at Friends Extended Care Center with the support of the nurses of Heartland Hospice and surrounded by family and friends. He was 72.
