  • Weavers thread custom crafts

    Weavers darted their shuttles through looms, spun dog hair into thread and taught their craft to newcomers as part of the Yellow Springs Experience on Tuesday.

    A string of evening thunderstorms brought Yellow Springs relief from the recent spell of humid, hot weather and dry conditions on Thursday. They also produced a brilliant rainbow which arched high above the community.

    Villagers and visitors alike lined Xenia avenue on Sunday afternoon for the annual 4th of July parade. A steady stream of antique cars, patriotic musicians, youth groups, community organizations, police cars and firetrucks came through downown. Children scattered through the streets in pursuit of candy, and water gun-toting teens drenched onlookers. See more photos of the holiday’s festivities in the upcoming print edition of the News.

That’s why the school board and his fellow classmates — meeting here for a 35th class reunion this weekend — are teaming up to honor Gudgel with a scholarship fund in his name that will continue to assist students in the high school.
