  • Ohio EPA public hearing on quarry concerns set for Feb. 1

    Area residents are invited to attend an Ohio EPA public hearing on water quality impacts of a planned mining expansion in Mad River Township, north of Yellow Springs. The hearing will be held Thursday, Feb. 1, at 6 p.m. at Greenon High School.

  • Seeking courage at MLK event

    The local celebration of the birthday of civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. takes place on Monday, Jan. 15, at 11 a.m. at Bryan Community Center gym, a new location. Marchers will congregate at 10 a.m. in the Subway parking lot that day for the march downtown that precedes the event.     This year marks the 50th anniversary of the civil rights leader’s death. And to celebrate his legacy, the 2018 Yellow Springs Martin Luther King Jr. Day program has adopted a timely theme: “Courage to Take a Stand.”

  • Community Read to focus on understanding dementia

    Community members are invited to read "Memory's Last Breath: Field Notes on My Dementia" for this year's Community Read.

    The Yellow Springs Community Library is partnering with the Yellow Springs Senior Center’s Dementia Friendly Yellow Springs, or DFYS, Project to host the first ever Yellow Springs-wide Community Read.  The selected book will be Gerda Saunders’ “Memory’s Last Breath: Field Notes on My Dementia.
