  • Vote to aid Gaunt Sculpture Project

    The local effort to erect an “over-life-size” bronze statue of Wheeling Gaunt made a splash at the Yellow Springs Fourth of July parade last summer.     Yellow Springs has been nominated for America’s Main Street Contest, with the chance to win $25,000 to be pledged toward the Wheeling Gaunt Sculpture Project.

  • Coroner identifies deceased person

    The deceased person found yesterday at the office of local veterinarian Dr. Charles (Scott) Hosket has been identified as Dr. Hosket, 65, according to a statement this morning from the Greene County Coroner.

    It’s springtime, which means that local vet Scott Hosket, a busy man in any season, finds himself traveling on dirt roads late at night and getting even less sleep than usual.

    An update the Village of Yellow Springs Wellhead Protection Plan, first passed in 2001, features new strategies to protect the aquifer that is the source of local drinking water.

    The 365 Project and Yellow Springs Heritage will collaborate to kick off the annual historical walking tour season on Saturday, April 21, at 1 p.m., with a “Blacks in Yellow Springs” walking tour.

    The Glen Helen Raptor Center is preparing to celebrate the coming of spring with a special open house event on Sunday, April 22, beginning at 2 p.m. — a baby shower, for all the baby raptors who will be raised and rehabilitated by the Raptor Center in the coming months.
