Members of Mills Lawn School Student Council posed after loading onto a flatbed trailer a record haul from this yearâs holiday food drive: a total of 2,008 donated items â the goal had been set at 1,500.

First of many
Layla Walland, 5, was ready for her first day of kindergarten to begin in Linnea Denmanâs class at Mills Lawn on Friday, Aug. 25, while her father, Matt Walland, and 2-year-old brother, Finn, said their goodbyes.

Walk on water
As part of their spring PBL, Mills Lawn School second-graders are studying water. They walked 3.7 miles over two days to simulate the average walk many must make around the world on a daily basis to get water.

This week is Peace Week at Mills Lawn School, and to celebrate, the student body âchose peaceâ â gathering on school grounds to form a huge peace sign, each student wearing a âChoose Peaceâ T-shirt.

Students from Mills Lawn Elementary Schoolâs fourth-grade classes presented the findings of their recent PBL project, âWheelchair Experience,â which gave students in the class a better understanding of what school is like for their âwheelchair friends.â
