    Walking under the autumn sun on Halloween afternoon, Monday, Oct. 31, were plenty of pretty princesses, frightful goblins and ghouls, myriad Marios and Luigis, fantastical warriors and beautiful Barbies.

    The Presbyterian pews were filled for the first concert of the 2023–2024 Chamber Music in Yellow Springs season, which featured the vocal ensemble CANTUS, an eight-member “low voice” a cappella ensemble.

    On Tuesday, Sept. 12, Mills Lawn Elementary School held the first iteration of what is sure to be a beloved annual tradition: Grandfriends Day.

    All throughout a perfect early fall day, on Saturday, Sept. 16, over 50 musicians, bands, disc jockeys, singers, songwriters and instrumentalists of nearly every musical genre under the sun performed at the annual villagewide Porchfest.

    YSHS students performed “She Kills Monsters” at Mills Lawn Thursday–Sunday last week to capacity crowds.

  • Water colors

    On Friday, Sept. 22, the News caught local artist and meter reader Travis Hotaling working on an unusual canvas: the Village recently tasked the painter with beautifying some of the downtown fire hydrants.
