  • Alumni tourney winners

    YSHS basketball alumni tournament champions for 2009 were alumni from the class of 2004: from left are Dustin Rudegeair, Rory Hotaling, Jordan Skinner, Anthony Brandon, Aaron Cobb, Brandon Frye and Donovan Boddie.

    This year’s Yellow Springs High School alumni basketball tournament ended in another battle between the classes of 2004 and 2002–2003, with the class of ’04 winning for the second consecutive year. The 2004 team was led by Jordan Skinner, Anthony Brandon, and Rory Hotaling, all of whom made the all-tournament team.

    The Lady Bulldogs basketball team achieved a convincing 50–32 victory over Xenia Christian on Monday, Dec. 14, before edging out Jefferson 52–41 on Thursday, Dec. 17. The wins take the girls team to a winning record of 3–2.

    The YSHS boys basketball team shocked Dayton Stivers in non-conference play with an 81–72 win on Saturday, Dec 12. The Bulldogs handily beat Metro Buckeye conference foe Middletown Christian 94–59 on Friday, Dec. 11, and moved their season record to 3–0.

  • Bulldog Sports Round-up

    Playing mostly for the fun of the game in their season opener on Friday, Dec. 4, the Bulldog boys basketball team mowed down the Mechanicsburg Indians 61–48. The home crowd cheered on this year’s team, which includes eight seniors, six of them returning, whose bulk and spirit promise a competitive and entertaining winter on the court.

    The annual Yellow Springs High School alumni basketball tournament will take place Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 26 and 27, at the high school. Organizers ask that participants register by e-mailing bulldog.basketball {at} yahoo(.)com.

    Basketball begins: the Bulldog basketball program will host “Meet the Teams Night” this Saturday, Nov. 28, at 6 p.m. in the Yellow Springs High School gym. Alumni open basketball tourney: the annual Yellow Springs High School alumni basketball tournament will take place Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 26 and 27, at the high school.

    The Crickets basketball program for girls and boys in first to third grade began Friday, Nov. 6. Six Friday sessions will be held 6–7 p.m. in the Bryan Center gym, ending Dec. 18.     On a dreary day at the Div. III District cross country meet at Englewood’s Miami Valley Tech Center on Saturday, Oct. 24, YSHS ninth grader Lois Miller emerged eighth out of 140 runners in 20:20.
