    McKinney School seventh graders will present Rube Goldberg machines that they have built on Friday, Feb. 3, from 4:30–5:30 p.m. in the McKinney/YSHS cafeteria.

  • School board— Eighth graders may travel to NYC

    Thanks in part to the success of the seventh-grade “Into the Wild” trip, McKinney Middle School teachers are seeking to enlarge the scope of the annual eighth-grade trip to Washington, D.C., scheduled to depart on May 4.

  • McKinney students go ‘Into the Wild’ to bike, learn, bond

    McKinney Middle School students and staff led groups of students on a 53-mile bike ride last week as part of the “Into the Wild” immersive learning field trip.     Last week, approximately 65 students left the hallowed halls of McKinney Middle School on a 53-mile bike trip over three days as part of “Into the Wild,” a project-based learning (PBL) excursion.

    Community members are invited to join bike rides down the bike path as McKinney Middle School students prepare for a bike ride to Loveland, Ohio later this year.

    The district is welcoming eight newly hired teachers to the local schools this year. This article introduces the five new Mills Lawn and McKinney Middle School teachers. In a following article will introduce the three new teachers at Yellow Springs High School.

  • School threat rumor unsubstantiated

    A rumor about a threat to McKinney Middle/Yellow Springs High School was determined last week to be unsubstantiated, according to school officials.

  • Yellow Springs High School dancers cut ‘Footloose’

    Charlotte Walkey, playing Ariel, and Lucas Mulhall, playing Ren, rehearse a dance from “Footloose,” the YSHS/MMS spring musical directed by Lorrie Sparrow-Knapp and produced by Ara Beal.     One week and one day out from opening night, the cast and crew of “Footloose” was hard at work, warming up their voices with crisp sounds: “va, va, va,” “no, no, no, no, no” and several rounds of “red leather, yellow leather.”

  • Chili Cook-Off returns on Saturday

    The 21st annual McKinney Middle School Chili Cook-Off will be held this Saturday, March 7, 5–8 p.m., in the YSHS/MMS cafeteria.

  • Yellow Springs School Board affirms nonrenewal of contract

    Three members of the Yellow Springs School Board met last Monday, July 14, at a special board meeting and voted to affirm their previous decision to nonrenew the contract of McKinney Middle School physical education and health teacher Angela Bussey.
